My Double Page Spread Layout

 

Here is my ideal layout for my double page spread obviously the pages are going to be next to eachother and this is what it would look like, the smaller images will be black and white while the big image will be in colour, all the images will be the same person just doing different poses with the same clothes on. The red lines mean 5 thin lines next too eachother like in one of the NOW double page spread ones. I'm hoping that it would look like the Now double page spread because I quite like it, it looks quite fun and st ylish!

Double Page spread Research

I have researched on different types of Double Page spreads, there are some which I really like and hope to do something like and there are some which I really don't like maybe because of the image, the way its laid out or the colours used.

Here is one which I dont no whether i like it or not. I really like the font of the title, because its bold, stands out and looks like the letters have been cut out from a newspaper or magzine. The image is Ok but its not very exciting, doesn't look like a good quality image and the colours are quite boring, the text alright, it looks a bit like a nespaper at the bottom. But the thing that is what im not so keen on is that it looks quite plain and theres not a lot on it and I'm not too keen on the layout of the page. 

Heres another double page spread which I have looked out I still think that it looks quite plain but the image is much, better it looks more interesting and COOL! They've used fading to make the golden person pop out from the other people in the band. There clothes look more posh and not so down to earth so they look more like superstars/singers that more people no. There' s also a clear colour scheme of golds whites and silvers, which i find is more interesting. 

Heres one Double page spread which I really like and this is hopefully the one which I am going to imitate, or just take certain parts from it. I am chosing to imitate this one because I took photos which are similar to these ones, of showing the whole body and doing different actions. I also took a really good image to be the big coloured one at the front. I no that I will have to add more text than other double page spreads which is the thing which I am not so sure on, but I dont mind because I might add other pictures or enlarge the others ones such as the ones at the top so it will fill up more of the page. I have already started on my double page spread   by adding the lines through the middle and adding the main image and started to edit it, I also may take some more pictures for the black and white photos at the top. I also like the Blue which they have used for some of the text which really stands out and the main image at the front really stands out because of the clothes she has worn of reds, blues and pinks, which I think is a really good Idea so I might try and get someone to wear some bright colours so that my double page spread really stands out!

Target Audience

I' ve shown that I have targeted a certain audience by the text, images and fonts I have portrayled in both my front cover and my contents page. The audience that I have targeted is mainly for young adults age ranging from about 15- 20 or for people who really enjoy listening to rap, hip hop and pop music.

Contents Page

Heres the one of the contents pages that I thought I was going to use then I finally done another photoshoot and produced some morephotos by editing them and cropping them on photoshop. I changed this one because I thought the image wasnt good enough, I also thought that it looked to similar to jthe front cover, because its the same person same clothes etc. So I changed it by taking some more photos...

So Here is the final contents page I have produced,  I got my inspiration for making this contents page from Vibe, In the vibe contents pages they also have the letter V in the background and I thought I would do the same by using the 'I' for INTERCEPT, also I blurred the 'I' into the background so it would more interesting and be different to the Vibe because the edges of the V are sharp rather than blurred and I think they both work. I chose to do the font simliar to the Vibe magazine because I dont want the magazine to be completely made up of Sans Serif text, so I chose to use Serif text aswell. Just to put a bit of mixture in the types of fonts. 

I also chose the add the long box at the bottom like on the front cover, to give a sense of continuity, obviously it wouldnt have the same in each box, each box would contain INTERCEPT, and some information about the magazine, date, email etc.   

The contents title is sort of the same I have just chosen to put the 'CO' 'NTEN' 'TS' out of line, so it would be similar to the Vibe magazines title, but still different. I chose to do something a little different to my photos I was taking by adding in some props and not just having someone looking at the camera with a straight face! I thought that umbrellas are quite intersting, or hats so I chose to add some of them in and then chose what I wanted for the final contents, main Image.

Contents Page

I started off by getting the image i wanted for the contents page the  cutting it out, editing it and then finally blurring the edges. I then chose the font i wanted on Dafont, chose the size and how it was going to be positioned.

I then positioned where i wanted the photo, also the contents page title, I chose to put the title on the ride side of the page at the top because basically thats where Vibe puts there contents and I chose to do the same as them. Also then adding the same strip of colour at the bottom like on the front cover but a different colour. Though i couldnt decide what i wanted in the long box at the bottom.

I then decided to add the first letter of the name of the magazine, which was I which I imitated from the vibe magazine. Also adding the text and lettering that i wanted in the long box at the bottom.

I finally then added the text I chose to put the text on the right side of the page because basically thats where the Vibe magazine had put it so I chose to do the same. , changed the angle of I in the background. But i might make some adjustments, like the picture or possibly adding a border. 

Contents Page Research

Here are two vibe contents pages, although they dont contain loads like the NME of Q magazine, they give out the correct information and by doing this they dont need to have everythimg crammed on one page.

I love how the title has been done, its different to the other contents pages, so i think i might steel this idea and change it slightly.

I think the pictures they use for each contents page are great photos and dont need to have anything else on them. I think I'm going to design my contents page like this!

Here are two similar contents pauges, one is Kerrang! and the other one is NME, there both quite crammed and contain loads  of pictures and information. I dont think they look as professional as the vibe contents page. They have images from different places and gigs, whereas the vibe pictures seem to be in a studio. I do like how the wiriting is layed out and the different fonts and sizes of text.

Heres a Q contents page it doesnt have has much on it like NME and Kerrang and the images are taken with more thought and the pictures are more professional even though they are not in a studio, there are of higher quality.

Heres a contents page which if found on the internet, which  someone has made themselves, you can obviously tell this is not a proper contents page basically because of the image, it is of a low quality abd you can see the pixels, also the background is still there the checkered floor so it is very poor. It's title ios also very boring and is like a school like magazine contents page.

contents idea?

Ive started researching my contents page and i ihave and idea of the layout for it and here it is. I really like the way vibe lay there contents page out, its pretty much a plain background with a image in a studio, a contents title and   the text which is pretty much what i have shown.
